Data Sources & Methodology
Congressional Voting Records
Historical voting data (1981-present) from VoteView, an academic database maintained by UCLA political scientists. Roll call votes are categorized into 13 policy areas for issue-level matching.
Current Legislation
Recent congressional roll call votes and bill metadata from Congress.gov (official U.S. Congress website) via their public API.
2026 Candidates
Candidate information comes from Ballotpedia and campaign websites when available. Candidate positions are estimated from public statements and issue pages, with party baselines used only when public evidence is limited.
Photos & District Data
Official congressional photos and ZIP code to district mapping from Congress.gov and Geocodio API.
Transparency Note
All data sources are publicly documented. Incumbent positions are based on actual votes. Challenger positions are estimates and clearly marked as such.
